Capacity Works provides practical, one-to-one capacity building supports designed to help participants develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for everyday life. Supports focus on functional literacy, numeracy, communication, community participation, and independence through meaningful real-world activities tailored to each participant's goals, strengths, and support needs. Services are delivered as flexible outreach supports in homes, schools, community settings, workplaces, and other environments where learning can be applied in practical and relevant ways. Programs and Capacity Building Plans are developed in alignment with NDIS capacity building objectives and are designed to support meaningful progress toward participant goals and improved quality of life. All sessions are delivered by a Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registered teacher with experience across mainstream, specialist, and trauma-informed educational settings.
What Can Capacity Works Help With?
Capacity Works may assist participants to develop skills in areas such as: • Functional literacy and numeracy • Communication and social interaction • Community access and participation • Daily living and independence skills • Goal setting and self-advocacy • School engagement and educational participation • Employment readiness and workplace skills • Organisation, planning, and problem-solving • Confidence building and participation in everyday activities Supports are individualised and may look different for every participant depending on their goals, interests, and circumstances.
Getting Started
Referrals can be made by participants, families, carers, support coordinators, schools, allied health professionals, and other members of a participant's support team. To get started, download the Capacity Works Referral Form and email the completed document to the Capacity Works administration team. Once received, we will review the referral and contact you to discuss the participant's goals, support needs, and suitability for services.
